Before selecting your courses

Carefully review the course selection information provided by your host university before making your choices:

  • Confirm whether your preferred course is offered during your exchange semester.
  • Verify any course restrictions for exchange students (refer to the host university's website or provided materials).
  • Confirm whether courses are at Bachelor or Master level and check if you are eligible to enroll (Only a few universities allow Bachelor students to take Master level courses).
  • Please note that if you have already passed the 180 ECTS of your Bachelor or if you are a Master student, all courses will be recognised extra curricularly.
Course selection

Selecting courses

1. Preferred courses:

List for at least 20 ECTS and up to 30 ECTS of preferred courses.

2. Back-up courses:

List maximum 15 ECTS worth of back-up courses.

Provide a recent (current or last academic year) course description or syllabus for each course containing learning objectives, assessment methods, and literature. If these details are missing, request them from the host university's course or exchange coordinator. This information is needed to evaluate the course.

Course requirements

  • Ensure selected courses have no or minimal overlap (max 40%) with those in your current study program. If overlap exists, justify its added value and explain your choice.
  • A maximum of one 100/200-level language course focused solely on language acquisition is permitted, provided it is neither in English nor your native language. A second basic language course can be taken extra curricularly.  This does not apply to courses with an academic component beyond language (e.g. study of cultural and historic components).
  • Courses must be academic in nature. We do not approve courses such as yoga or tennis.
