SL&D is a series of lectures about sign languages, their histories and the main speakers of these languages, the deaf people. This lecture series is organized by the HANDS!Lab for Sign Languages and Deaf Studies at the Leiden University Centre for Linguistics. The lecture series will address topics related to the laboratory's lines of research. Following from the current Vici project ‘Through the Hands of Signers’, we currently focus on the challenges posed by research in historical sign language linguistics and sociolinguistic issues related to Deaf people.
Please note: (i) lectures are held in a hybrid format, about once a month, but the day varies, and (ii) the language of communication is International Sign.
